FMG’s Wellness Committee Steps It Up for Health

featured / employee health / fmg culture
A lot of recent advertising and media uses scare tactics to get people to move more. While dramatic, it is no secret that a sedentary lifestyle can be extremely dangerous to both physical and mental health. As more Americans choose to treat disease rather than prevent it, some of the most simple reminders and suggestions are ignored for get-fit-quick fads and gimmicks. At Fors Marsh Group, we established a Wellness Committee in late 2014 with the goal of promoting healthy lifestyle choices, and the intent of ensuring employees have a chance to partake in office-sponsored activities allowing employees to move more – DURING the workday. However, I knew that even if I wasn't ready to put my exercise habits in the limelight at work, I needed to work on them at home. To help me in my quest, and because I am a huge nerd, I turned... more

FMG Employees Get Active!

With warmer weather on the horizon and a number of employees suffering from cabin fever, it is the perfect time to implement a Get Active! Challenge in the office. Although one can debate the success of office wellness programs, the truth is, if implemented for the right reason - to benefit employees - the downside is pretty much non-existent. In our case, we've decided to tackle one issue at a time, with the first of many wellness efforts aimed at moving more. We are in a field that desk work is part of the territory, and we've all had days where you get so wrapped up in what you are doing, and realize you've barely walked 2,000 steps by 3pm. This type of inactivity is... more
