Ben Garthwaite assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Fors Marsh Group (FMG) in 2019 after serving as both Senior Vice President and Director of Business Development since 2009 and co-owner since 2015. Over his 10 years at FMG, Ben’s focus has included business growth and diversification as well as cultivating a purpose-driven culture, culminating in achieving B Corp certification in 2017. Under his leadership, annual revenue has grown from $5 million in 2009 to more than $60 million in 2019. Additionally, Ben has led FMG’s financial, legal, governance, and information technology divisions, successfully driving growth while building the infrastructure necessary to support dozens of major national-level client accounts.
Before joining FMG, Ben held a variety of leadership positions at Electronic Data Systems (EDS) and later at Hewlett-Packard Enterprise Services (HPES). He served as Business Director and was responsible for finance, growth strategy and execution, contracts, supply chain, quality management, and specific Defense-related delivery and proposal efforts. Ben also served as Program Manager for EDS’s DOD-wide smart card and middleware program, which issued Personal Identity Verification (PIV) credentials to more than 2.5 million DOD personnel and contractors worldwide every year.
Ben earned his MBA from the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland and graduated with a BBA in Finance Investment Banking from the University of Wisconsin.
As an active member of the B Corp community, Ben advises a range of current and potential B Corps on business transformation and using business as a force for good. He oversees FMG’s research studies designed to build the B Corp movement. Ben is a member of the Professional Services Council (PSC) where he advocates for the federal contractor workforce and mid-tier business policy, and coaches RunFit Kidz in Vienna, VA.
Ben is married with three children and two dogs, all of whom support his passion for marathon running.
Fors Marsh Group Achieves CMMI Maturity Level 3 for Defined and Efficient Business Practices
Today, Fors Marsh Group (FMG) announced it has been appraised at Maturity Level 3 of the CMMI Institute’s Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI). CMMI—widely considered the global leader in measuring an organization’s capabilities—is an improvement framework that provides organizations with essential elements of effective processes that improve performance.

The appraisal was performed by Acuity, Inc. An appraisal at Maturity Level 3 specifies that FMG is performing at a “defined” level. At this level, FMG’s processes are well documented and implemented and are described in standards, procedures, tools, and methods. For FMG clients, achieving CMMI Maturity Level 3 means:
