Fors Marsh Group is a 2021 Washington Post Top Workplace
Fors Marsh Group (FMG), earned recognition in The Washington Post's 2021 Top Workplaces list for the third consecutive year. FMG’s commitment to building an inclusive and values-driven work environment, employee-centered company policies, and radically transparent leadership were key initiatives that were highlighted.
“As a Certified B Corp, we operate with different priorities than others in our industry so it is refreshing to be recognized by those we put first - our people,” says Ben Garthwaite, FMG CEO. “Our nature at FMG is to focus on how we can be better tomorrow. Awards like this one give us a moment to pause and celebrate how far we’ve come in our journey to be the best FMG we can imagine.”
FMG’s people-first orientation allowed the company not only to persevere but to thrive throughout the challenges of 2020. The B Corp’s staff pivoted to working entirely remotely in response to the COVID-19 pandemic last year, deepened in community with each other by expanding employee-led affinity groups, and added new employee benefits like coverage for gender-affirming surgery and fertility treatments. FMG also recommitted to anti-racist business practices, rolling out an ambitious Racial Equity Strategic Plan and hosting events like racial equity learning series discussions, powered by the employee-led Driving Inclusion and Valuing Equity (DIVE) Committee.
In response to the devastating effects of global climate change, FMG committed to fight for climate justice and reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2030. True to the company’s dedication to face society’s most pressing issues head-on, FMG teams applied their research and health communications expertise to save lives during the COVID-19 pandemic, with a special focus on reaching underserved communities with crucial information about vaccines.
The Washington Post Top Workplaces award recognizes companies in the D.C. area that received the highest ratings from their employees. For the third year in a row, FMG’s survey results were overwhelmingly positive. FMG employees noted that the organization’s greatest strengths are its strong core values, mission-driven work, collaborative leadership, and investment in employee growth and development.
