How Can States Increase Voter Turnout?
To increase turnout, states will often implement policy change to make registering to vote easier. The intention is that if voting registration obstacles are removed, more people will register and vote.
To investigate whether or not this was an effective solution, Fors Marsh Group’s (FMG) Dr. Carl Turner, Senior Scientist, leveraged data from the Election Assistance Commission’s (EAC) 2016 Election Administration and Voting Survey (EAVS) to measure and predict the participation rates states can expect when they remove registration obstacles and increase registration rates.
